Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information igbento (the "Service", operated by IGBento, "we", "us") handles when you use the igbento Chrome extension and the website at igbento.com, and the choices you have.
The short version: igbento works inside your own browser. Your Instagram data stays on your device. Our servers only hold what is needed for your account and your subscription.
1. What igbento is
igbento helps you download Instagram posts, Reels and saved posts, export followers and following lists, and find and unfollow accounts that don't follow you back. igbento is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Instagram or Meta. "Instagram" is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.
2. Your Instagram data stays on your device
igbento works through your own logged-in Instagram session in your browser. It never asks for, receives or stores your Instagram password.
Data that igbento reads from Instagram on your behalf, such as followers and following lists, scan results, unfollow history, downloaded files and task records, is processed and stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB and localStorage) and in your computer's Downloads folder. It is not sent to or stored on igbento servers.
You can delete this data at any time using "Clear saved data" in the app. Uninstalling the extension or clearing the site data for igbento in your browser also removes it. Files already saved to your Downloads folder are yours to manage and delete.
3. Information we collect on our servers
When you create an account or subscribe, we store:
- Account information: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture associated with your Google account. We use passwordless sign-in (a magic link sent by email, or Google sign-in).
- Session information: session cookies and a session record that keeps you signed in, including the IP address and browser user agent of the session.
- Subscription records: your plan, subscription status, billing period and cancellation dates, and the Paddle customer and subscription identifiers.
- Payment event logs: identifiers of the webhook events we receive from Paddle, so each event is processed once.
We do not store your full payment card details. Payments are handled by Paddle (see below). Like most web services, our hosting infrastructure may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and requested pages) for security and troubleshooting.
Browsing the website and using the extension without an account does not require you to give us any personal information.
4. Cloud backup (beta)
Cloud backup is an optional beta feature on paid plans. It is off unless you turn it on. If you turn it on, the data you choose to back up (such as lists and post information and, on Pro, media files up to your plan's storage allowance) is stored on igbento's cloud storage until you delete it or your account is removed. Because this feature is still being tested, it may change.
5. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To provide paid features and determine which plan you are on.
- To send transactional emails, such as sign-in links.
- To respond to your support requests and billing questions.
- To prevent abuse and keep the Service running.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
6. Service providers
We share the minimum information needed with these providers so the Service can work:
- Paddle.com is our payment processor and Merchant of Record. Paddle collects and processes your payment details, issues invoices, and handles sales tax and VAT. We never see your full card details. Paddle's use of your information is described in Paddle's privacy policy.
- Zoho Mail delivers our transactional emails, such as sign-in links.
- Google authenticates you if you choose "Continue with Google".
- Hosting, database and cloud storage providers that run the Service for us.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users and the Service. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, account information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
7. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and secure your session. The website and extension also use your browser's local storage to remember preferences (such as theme) and to store your Instagram data locally as described above. We do not use advertising cookies.
8. Data retention
We keep account and subscription information for as long as your account exists and as needed to meet legal, tax, accounting and dispute-resolution obligations. Session records expire automatically. You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see "Your rights"). Data stored locally in your browser is kept until you delete it.
9. Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including passwordless sign-in and encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Your Instagram data on your device is also protected by the security of your own computer and browser profile.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, or to ask us to delete your account and related data, email feedback@igbento.com from the address you signed up with. We will respond within a reasonable time and as required by applicable law. If you believe we have mishandled your information, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
Your Instagram data is stored on your device, so you can delete it yourself with "Clear saved data" or by clearing your browser data.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 18 to use paid features. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes we will give notice by email or a prominent notice on the website before they take effect.
