About igbento

igbento helps you tidy your Instagram following list without handing over your password. This page explains who builds it, what happens to your data, and how we write and check what we publish.

What igbento is

igbento is a Chrome extension for managing who you follow on Instagram. It compares your followers and following lists, shows you who doesn't follow you back, and unfollows the accounts you pick at a safe pace. It can also download posts, Reels, stories and highlights in original quality, and export followers and following lists to CSV or JSON.

There is also a free unfollowers checker that needs no login and works on a phone. You upload two exports from Instagram and it shows who unfollowed you in between.

Who builds it

igbento is built by a small, independent team. We use the product ourselves and write the guides on this site. If you want to reach us, email feedback@igbento.com. A real person reads it.

How igbento handles your data

  • igbento never asks for your Instagram password. It works through the session you are already logged in to in your browser.
  • The lists it builds are stored in your browser, not on our servers.
  • The free checker reads your files on your own device.
  • igbento is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Instagram or Meta.

How we write and check our guides

Instagram says very little about how unfollows, limits and exports work, so we rely on two things. First, what Instagram does in the app, which we check ourselves and re-check when guides are updated. Second, cited third-party sources, for the parts Instagram never documents.

When something is not confirmed, we say so instead of presenting it as fact. Menu names in Instagram change often, so steps carry a date. Every guide shows when it was last updated, and we revise guides when Instagram changes.

If you spot something wrong or out of date, email feedback@igbento.com and we will correct the guide. Browse them all in the guides section.

How we set unfollow limits

Instagram publishes no official unfollow limit, and what it tolerates seems to vary by account. So we choose to be cautious. igbento unfollows with natural delays between each account, and the paid plans run at a Safe pace of 100 a day or a Standard pace of 150 a day. It never goes above 150 a day.

Public advice about Instagram's limits clusters around 100 to 200 unfollows a day, and we stay below the top of that range. If Instagram pushes back, igbento pauses instead of pressing on. Our unfollow limit guide explains the numbers in more detail.
